I film books consistono nell'anime riportato in forma cartacea, realizzati riportando vari fotogrammi correlati con la descrizione della storia e alcuni dialoghi.
Contengono anche i "Check points", notizie sulla produzione o altre notizie al di sotto di ogni pagina, solitamente anche una o due appendici riguardanti il carachter design e cose simili.
Alcuni sono eccesivamente riassunti, quindi non sono assoultamente da prendere come dei sostitui alla visione dell'episodio animato. Sono consigliati più che altro per una "ripassata veloce" e per le notizie "extra". I 9 film books contengono tutti gli episodi TV e sono pubblicati dalla Kadokawa Shoten e costano 590yen ognuno.
Di recente sono stati pubblicati anche i film book di "DEATH" (da Death&Rebirth), "AIR" (primo episodio di The End of Evangelion) e "TRUE HEART TO YOU" (secondo episodio di The End of Evangelion).
Qui in Italia sono editi dalla Planet Manga e costano 4.900 lire.

  - EVANGELION MANGA

Il manga di Evangelion viene disegnato da Sadamoto Yoshiyuki.
Alcuni punti della narrazione sono diversi rispetto alla serie televisiva e non è male vedere il suo punto di vista nei confronti dello svolgersi dei vari eventi.
Il manga è serializzato sul magazine della Kadokawa Shoten "Comics A".
Il manga non viene pubblicato con regolarità ed ha numerosi periodi di fermo. Per cui anche le uscite italiane, che avvengono in contemporanea, subiscono questi ritardi.
